Welcome to ADVOCACY website!
The Influence of Business Advocacy in Finnish Employment Relations and Governmental Policies (ADVOCACY) is a Research Council of Finland funded Academy Research Fellow project.
What we do in ADVOCACY
Whose ideas and interests influence governmental policies and legislation? How do social partners, business advocacy groups and politics interact in Finnish society? These are questions that ADVOCACY aims to answer. The project will focus on analyzing the roles of business advocacy groups and social partners in policy processes and their outcomes. The project covers three main areas: 1) Institutional change within Finnish employment relations; 2) Business advocacy organizations’ influence on the Finnish welfare state; 3) Debates on the value of feminized work.
In practical terms, ADVOCACY studies highly topical issues and phenomena, such as the current debate around the export industry-led wage bargaining model in Finland and related legislation and lobbying around gender equality legislation that is to be renewed to comply with EU Directive on Pay Transparency. One of the topics covered is the financialization of public services.
Data and methods used are mainly qualitative; discursive, policy-constructivist and multimodal methods. ADVOCACY contributes to the emerging area of feminist studies on business-society relations. The project will produce societally impactful, significant empirical results on timely and societally relevant cases.
